Attendance

All holidays taken during term time will be recorded as unauthorised.  We require a completed 'Request for Leave of Absence' form for any planned absences.  These can be obtained from the office or downloaded from the website.

Any holidays, or other unauthorised absences, during term time may lead to a fixed penalty notice (FPN).  HCC guidelines state that a total of 15 or more unauthorised sessions, over two consecutive terms, could lead to a FPN.  These also include unauthorised sessions for reasons other than term-time holidays.  A morning or afternoon are considered a session, and therefore, a day consists of 2 sessions.

Fixed Penalty Notices are currently £60.00 per parent with parental responsibilities, per child.

The national average for school attendance in England is 95%.  As a school we work towards 100% attendance, but aim to always be in line or above the national percentage.

  • 98% or above - excellent
  • 95% - 97.9% - good
  • 92% - 94.9% - concerns
  • Below 91.9% - serious concerns
  • Below 90% - persistent absentee
  • Below 50% - serious concerns

Parents will be invited to attend meetings regarding their child's attendance, with the Headteacher and/or the Trust Attendance Lead, as soon as concerns arise.

If your child is unable to attend due to illness, please notify us on each day of absence before 8.30am, via email or telephone.  Non-notification will result in an unauthorised absence being recorded.

Lateness after 9.10am will be recorded as an unauthorised late and will affect your child's attendance percentage.
