Weekly Update - w/c 7 October
This week in Phonics we have learnt the new phonemes e, u, r and h. We also learnt to recognise the tricky word ‘I’. We have continued our daily blending practice, sounding out short CVC words and blending the sounds together to read words.
In maths, we have been looking at size. The children have had lots of practice identifying big, small and medium objects. We have also been practising putting a group of items in size order and being able to explain why we have put them in that order.
To complement our maths learning, we have also revisited the tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears in Drawing Club. We have drawn our setting of the bears’ house and have thought about what we think Goldilocks might give the bears to say sorry for going into their house uninvited. The children made some lovely suggestions, such as chocolate, flowers and a new laptop!
In PSHE, we have continued to think about the four Zones of Regulations and the feelings that they relate to. We played a game to help the children think about all the different adjectives that we can use to describe our feelings and which Zone they belong in.
In PE, we have been working on following instructions and playing games as a group. The children enjoyed playing a game styled on ‘Bulldog’ and, despite there being some disappointment when they were caught, they showed great sporting behaviour.
